Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced that the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre in Ikot Ada Idem, Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state, would be opened for studies from May 20, 2024.
He has also commended the immediate past administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the vision and deliberate commitment to setting up the training Centre in the State.
Pastor Eno spoke when he visited the Centre during a tour of some project sites in the State on Tuesday.
The Governor, who also inspected the low cost housing units for Civil Servants in the State, said it was part of his campaign promise to connect the dots by completing and putting to use, all projects executed by the previous administration in the State.
He urged the supervising Commissioner, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet to ensure that students are admitted and the Centre commences training on the said date.
The Governor, who was conducted round the Centre by the Consultant in charge of the project, Mr. Churchill Udoh, expressed satisfaction with the standard of facilities.
“With this poultry farm and the right management, we can feed the entire state, I am very impressed”, he said at the Poultry section of the skills hub.
The Governor earlier inspected two low-cost housing estates at Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, where he promised to ensure the houses are completed and put to use by low income earning civil servants soonest.
He was conducted round both estates by the Commissioner for Housing, Otuekong Raphael Bassey.
He said his visit was in line with his plans to run government everyday irrespective of holidays, and urged the contractors to ensure corrections to areas where there were loopholes.
He also promised that standard amenities, in addition to the ongoing road projects around the housing estate communities, will be executed to further open up the area and further expand the capital city.
The Governor’s first port of call was the power station project at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo.
