Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, has celebrated the June 12 Democracy Day with the commissioning of projects worth millions of naira in health, education and infrastructural sectors.
Commissioning the projects at the State Specialist Hospital which included a new Accident and Emergency, General Outpatient Departments, Staff quarters, interns and resident doctors quarters, fully renovated sections of the hospital and eleven brand new Ford Hilux vehicles for all Primary Health Care Departments for the eleven Local Government Areas of the State, Governor Inuwa boasted that his administration is fulfilling its promises of delivering the dividends of democracy.
According to him, despite the covid-19 pandemic and the economic crunch facing the State, the resilience of the administration in fulfilling its responsibilities to the people is second to non.
He said, the administration had learnt a lot of lessons from the pandemic and economic crunch and believes that with prudent management of resources available, the administration can do very well in meeting the yearnings of the people.
He vowed that with the health sector as one of its priority areas, Government will go out against all odds to revitalize the sector by revamping all the General Hospitals in the State and also make sure that there is at feast, one functional Primary Health Care facility in all the 114 electoral wards of the State.
He called on the workers to put in their best in the discharge of their duties for the benefit of the common man and promised not to fail in meeting their welfare needs.
Earlier, Chairman of the State Health Revitalization Taskforce, Professor Usman El-Nafatty, thanked the Governor for giving the taskforce the free hand to carryout its its work. He commended all the technical partners and contractors that handled the project for meeting the set targets.
“The Hospital now has all facilities that will make it attain the status of a Specialist Hospital”, he said.
The Governor later inspected some road projects in the State capital and later proceeded to the State Teachers Training institute which was also commissioned.
