Democrats Sherrill, Spanberger, Mamdani win in crucial November 4, 2025 elections
Democratic Party candidates in the Governorship elections for New Jersey and Virginia, Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger, respectively, have emerged victorious in yesterday’s (Tuesday, November 4, 2025) elections, with Zohran Mamdani, also a Democrat, clinching the coveted position of New York City Mayor.
The victories in these and some other elections conducted across the United States are being seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump’s policies in office since winning the elections for his second term in office.
Representative Sherrill, a former Navy helicopter pilot and former federal prosecutor, defeated Republican former State Representative, Jack Ciattarelli who was endorsed by President Trump, and has reassured that she would stand up for the people against some of the policies of the Trump administration that are being considered as anti-masses.
In New York City, Mamdani, in his victory speech, among others, said that his victory amounted to the toppling of a political dynasty. His closest rival, Andrew Cuomo, a former New York Governor, whose father, Mario Cuomo, was also Governor of New York, was endorsed by President Trump.
