The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Rivers State, has assured people of the state that there was no cause for alarm, just as it condemned as ‘an obvious gang-up against the party, Governor Nyesom Wike and the state lawmakers by the enemies of progress’ recent rulings against them by the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja as well as the Supreme Court.

State chairman of the party, Felix Obuah, in a statement, Tuesday, enjoined ‘all members of the party and Rivers people to remain resolute; assuring that Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the party and all the PDP lawmakers would be victorious at the end of the day.’

The PDP Chairman in a press statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the party is ‘halfway through what seemingly were challenges orchestrated by enemies of the state because of our resources which they want to continue to loot to develop their own states, leaving Rivers people and the state in a state of underdevelopment and disrepair as witnessed under Mr Rotimi Amaechi administration.’

“But we can now see light at the end of the tunnel and are therefore not perturbed. We are sure of victory”, he declared.

The state party chairman assured that ‘Rivers resources would be used to develop the state, as opposed to Mr Rotimi Amaechi administration, reaffirming the commitment of Governor Nyesom Wike to put smiles back on the faces of Rivers people.’

“We recall that the same judiciary and its judges, magistrates and judiciary workers Amaechi subjected to untold hardship and frustration for over one year are still the same people he has run to, for assistance in his new plot to institutionalize another round of illegality in the State, describing the development as ironical and shameful.

“We are convinced that the judiciary is too informed and alert to the mischief of maverick and Machiavellian politicians of Amaechi’s mould. There is no way he (Amaechi) will succeed in rubbishing the eminent jurists that are in charge of the nation’s temple of justice in his renewed politics of calumny,” the PDP chieftain said.
