Editors declare Rivers safe for Conferences

The President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, Mrs Funke  Egbemode  has stated that Rivers State remains one of the most secure  states of the country.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Mrs Egbemode  said that propaganda cannot diminish the importance of the state.
The Editors are in Rivers State for the All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC).
She said that the fact that the 12th General Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion and the All Nigeria Editors Conference are holding simultaneously  in Rivers State speaks to the fact that people no longer take into consideration the propaganda against the state.
“Rivers State has become a hub of activities.  Rivers State is viewed for all the right reasons.
“What this tells the outside world is that it doesn’t matter the propaganda, people know that Rivers State is safe for businesses and conferences. Rivers State is hosting hundreds of Editors and Bishops “.
She said that this is the first time in the 50-year history of the state that a state will be hosting the Editors Conference  back to back. She noted that the Editors are back to Rivers State because  they feel at home in the state.
Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said that the state is glad to host Nigerian Editors for two consecutive years.
The governor urged the Editors to remain committed to professionalism, pointing out that as watchdogs of the society, editors should help in the dissemination of information that will promote development.
