All Progressives Congress ( APC) Enugu state chapter has announced the suspension of five stakeholders from the party.

The members who were suspended for a period of one year were alleged to be involved in anti party activities.

Among those suspended include the guber candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in 2011 (which later formed part of APC), Mr. Valentine Nnadozie from Oji-River local council and his then running mate, Ejike Ugwu from Igbo Etiti local council.

Others are Okenwa Onyekachi from Uzo-Uwani local council, Rev. Jones Onuorah from Nkanu East  local council and Elijah Ngene fr‎om Nkanu South local Council.

Chairman of the party in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye told journalists at a briefing, weekend, that the suspension took effect from June 15th.

He said a committee which was set up to investigate the activities of the affected party members had recommended outright expulsion but the state executive council commuted it to one year suspension.

He alleged that the suspended members have been engaged in clandestine activities that tended to paint the party in bad colours in Enugu state.

He advised those with political ambition to exercise patience until the time of elections as they would ensure a level playing ground for every aspirant.

He further announced a month suspension on another member, Valentine Ikpa who allegedly violated the party’s constitution.

All the suspended persons, the chairman maintained, are barred from participating “in any and all activities of APC during the period of their suspension.”
