Peter Obi, Shehu Sani, Mike Ozekhome, others attend inauguration of Chinedu Nebo-led executive of Nzuko Umunna

Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023, election, Mr. Peter Obi, was among dignitaries from different parts of the country that graced the installation ceremony of the new leadership of Nzuko Umunna, which has Prof. Ositadimma Chinedu Nebo, a former Minister of Power and one-time Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, at the helm.

The event also witnessed the launching of the group’s book, titled ‘Nzuko Umunna Chronicles.’

In a tweet, Mr. Obi explained that the presence of eminent personalities from different nationalities at the event “was aimed at building bridges, fostering peace, encouraging development, and promoting mutual understanding among the ethnic nationalities in the country.”

The former Anambra State Governor said he seized the opportunity of the gathering that also had Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in attendance, “to remind everyone that leadership is a trust for service to society.”

He added that “for us in Nigeria, we must not bequeath anarchy to the next generation. The challenges we face as a people are not specific to a particular region. We must, therefore, unite as one to build a nation that everyone will be proud of.”

Among the eminent personalities that graced the well-attended program were Kaduna State-born former Senator, author, playwright and caustic critic, Shehu Sani and the Agenebode, Edo State-born legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN).
