The Bayelsa State Police Command as well as the Joint Military Task force (JTF) stationed in the state have launched a combined team of operatives in a manhunt to secure the release of abducted Madam Ebifieghe Bikoroghe, the aged mother of Elder Wilberforce Igiri, running mate of Chief Timipre Sylva in the 2016 governorship elections.
Madam Ebifieghe Bikoroghe was reportedly abducted from her home by yet-to-be-identified gunmen, Thursday morning,
The over 100 year-old Madam Bikoroghe was reportedly whisked away from her residence at Foropa, community, Southern Ijaw local government Area.
Confirming the manhunt, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Asinim Butswat said the Marine Police, Joint Task force JTF and the Anti kidnapping unit have swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.
However, according to the police, no arrest has so far been made as the abductor were said to have escaped into the creeks with the aged mother. Also, no ransom has been demanded by the abductors
