Former Assembly Speaker describes APC congress as a `huge success’ in Enugu

 The Former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Eugene Odo has described the Local Government congress of the All progressives Congress (APC) in the state as a `huge success’.

Odo made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Igboetiti Local Government headquarters, Ogbede on Saturday.

The former speaker, who left the PDP for APC in 2017, said that reports reaching him showed that the congress was peaceful across the state.

He said that 90 per cent of the people of the area were members of APC adding that they were all loyal members to the core.

Odo said that two candidates contested the chairmanship but one stepped down in the interest of peace and unity in the area.

He explained that one Mr. Emeka Odo from Ukehe ward II stepped down for one Mr. Best Aruh of the same ward who was the current local government party chairman to enable him complete his tenure.

The Former speaker said that Aruh and Mr. Nnamdi Agu emerged as chairman and secretary respectively adding that all the local government former executives were returned unopposed to complete their tenure.

In the same vein, the newly elected LG chairman, Mr. Best Aruh expressed happiness for the opportunity given to him to serve his people for two terms.

Aruh promised not to bring disunity in the party and promised that he would never let them down.

NAN reports that there was large turnout of people at the council headquarters during the congress.
