Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, children escape unknown gunmen’s attack

One time Governor of Imo State would have been a new year victim of unknown gunmen in Imo State as he and two of his children narrowly escaped an attack on his convoy by the gunmen who, however, killed four of his Police security details.

The attack reportedly took place at Oriagu Mbano on Monday, December 2, 2023, while the former governor and his children were returning from a new year visit.

Ohakim’s driver was said to have outmaneuvered the gunmen who had wanted to double cross his vehicle, and when they found that their main target had escaped, they reportedly set the vehicle conveying the policemen on fire.

Ohakim, from Mbano in Okigwe zone of Imo State, is presently a chieftain of the running All Progressives Congress (APC) and has remained active politically since being defeated by Rochas Okorocha who stopped his second term bid.

There has been no reaction from him as at press time regarding the attack on him or the fate of his security aides.
