Following media reports that the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, arrested an alleged Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) staff who violated traffic laws along the Sawmill area of Ikere in Ekiti State, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered the re-arrest and prosecution of the offender named, Adeola Alabi, stating that there is no record of him being a staff of the Corps.

Findings revealed that Adeola Alabi, who was booked N20,000 by the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency in Ado Ekiti, is neither a staff of the Corps nor a member of the Special Marshal Unit of the Corps.

According to the Head Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem: “The Peugeot 505 vehicle driven by the offender with vehicle registration number AG 738 FGB, as well as the owner is under investigation and the Corps has taken a position to expose the offender who is now guilty of impersonation to evade justice.”

Kazeem also added that ‘the Corps Marshal forbids any FRSC staff from violating traffic laws in the name of being members of the Corps; Mr Oyeyemi also maintains his resolve to find out the identity of Adeola Alabi, and to see the investigation through to the end, where the full weight of the law will take place’

“The Corps Marshal is using the opportunity to appeal to all the Staff of FRSC and its sister agencies not to ever violate traffic laws, instead be good ambassadors of the agencies they represent,” the FRSC said.

Kazeem stated that the Corps Marshal further restates its appreciation to Governor Ayo Fayose for identifying with the “good road use culture” propagated by FRSC, amongst other Governors such as Sokoto and Ogun state governors who have done similar things in the past.
