The Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has commended Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State for constituting a Taskforce Committee on Sales and Distribution of Petroleum products in the state.

Arising from its congress meeting, the Union observed that the development will help in checking the excesses of petroleum dealers, who were in the habit of hoarding the product for selfish gains.

The Union however appealed to the Committee to be diligent in the discharge of its duties for the benefit of the people of the state.

The Union also commended the Chairman of Isa Local Government council area of the state, Col. Garba Moyi (Rtd) for facilitating the surrendering of 27 cattle rustlers in the local government area.

While calling on the local government council to encourage the cattle rustlers to engage in meaningful trades, the Union appealed to other local government chairmen to emulate the chairman of Isa local government.

It also called on all security agencies in the state to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties.

The Union expressed concern over the ongoing renovation work of the Press Centre Sokoto which has dragged for more than two years now and appealed to the state government to put more pressure on the contractor handling the work to hasten up and ensure completion of the job without further delay.
