AFCON: Obi hails Super Eagles over 2-0 victory against Algeria

Peter Obi, 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has congratulated the Super Eagles for defeating Algeria in the quarter-final match in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday reports that the much anticipated quarter-final encounter between the Super Eagles and the Desert Foxes was played at the Stade de Marrakech with over 84,000 spectators in attendance.
NAN recalls that goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams which were scored in the 47th and 57th minutes helped to fire the Super Eagles into the semis against the host country Morocco.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra, in his congratulatory message posted on his X handle, said that the 2-0 victory sends a clear message to the rest of the continent.
According to him, “huge congratulations to our dear Super Eagles for flying high over the Desert Warriors. A 2–0 victory that sends a clear message to the rest of the continent.
“Clinical finishing, a rock-solid defence, and a rewarding gift to over 200 million people cheering you on.
“The AFCON trophy is within reach, Keep the fire burning. Let’s take this momentum straight into the semi-finals. Up Nigeria,” he said.
