The immediate past speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe, has advised the new members of the state legislature to make humility and unity their watchwords in all their undertakings.
Hon. Igbe who made the call while addressing the media at the end of the assembly’s valedictory sitting in Benin, said that the business of lawmaking remains a collective responsibility of all the elected members of the house which needs the cooperation of all.
In his assessment of the achievements of the out-gone parliament, Hon. Igbe said that it performed creditably and as such deserves kudos.
The lawmaker asserted that his greatest regret as the speaker was the fact that at a period during the crisis that rocked the house he had to participate in the process of taking disciplinary measures against some of his colleagues most of whom were his friends.
Hon. Igbe, who lost his to go to the house of representatives, thanked the people of the state for their understanding and support throughout his tenure in office and promised to do much better in any other position he is assigned in the future.
