The Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Professor Abdulrahman Ibrahim, has revealed that the University has resuscitated the dying ATBU Trust Investment Limited (ATIL) through establishment of a Community Micro-Finance Bank, 3 star Hotel, bottled water factory and a printing press to generate more funds for the institution.
Professor Ibrahim disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi, saying that the University is trying to revamp the moribund ATBU Trust and Investment Company through establishment of the four revenue sources in the institution.
Speaking also, the General Manager, ATBU Trust and Investment Limited (ATIL), Auwal Bala Aminu, said the establishment of a Community Micro-Finance Bank, 3 star Hotel, bottled water factory and printing press to generate more funds for the institution will boost the financial strength of the University
According to him, the bank was established by ATIL as part of development and expansion plan being undertaken by the university’s management in order to reposition the institution in line with the changing times and challenges.
The GM said that the Bank has already started operations about a week ago with attractive products and services for prospective customers and that the Bank will operate like any other Micro-Finance Bank as it has obtained a ‘Category A’ certificate from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, for its operations.
He added that the ATBU Micro-Finance Bank started with a share capital of N32 million.
The GM said that the 3 Star Hotel will be completed in two months. “we invest over 155 million on the Construction,” he said, adding that the printing press and the bottled water factory are already working and generating revenue for the institution.
He called on the University and the surrounding communities as well as the general public to patronize the Micro-Finance Bank.
