IATF 2025 ends; Posts superlative result

The IAFT is organised every two years by the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat (AfCFTA) and the closing ceremony of the 2025 event was attended by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the IATF, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; the President and Chairman of the Board of Afreximbank, Professor Benedict Oramah; the Secretary General of AfCFTA, Ambassador Wamkele Mene and other dignitaries.
Reading out the report of the performance of the Fair, compared to past editions, Dr. Gainmore Zanamwe, Director, Trade Facilitation & Investment Promotion at Afreximbank, said, for instance, that whereas the projection for trade and investment deals was $44bn, the Fair ended achieving $48.3billion, a major leap forward from the past numbers.
Similarly, whereas the prediction for delegates, trade visitors and media attendance was 35,000, the Fair that had an unprecedented presence of 20 Heads of State and Government saw 112,476 people in attendance, both onsite and online.
The colorful closing ceremony, which also witnessed the award of some prizes and a standing ovation for Professor Oramah for the great work he has done concerning the IATF and Global Africa generally, equally had a press conference segment where among others, President Oramah urged multilateral financial institutions, commercial banks, and other such institutions to begin to take more interest in the Fair.
Many of those who participated in the IATF2025 have nothing but commendation for the flawless organisation and the impact of the event, which had as its theme: “Gateway to New Opportunities.”
The Fair started on September 4 and ended on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
