Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has commended some students who excelled in different examinations that they sat for locally and internationally, noting that the outstanding performances of the students reinforce his conviction “that no nation can make meaningful progress unless it invests heavily in the development of its human capital.”

The former Governor of Anambra State, who, in two different tweets, also commended the teachers and schools of the students, stressed that by their achievements, the students would inspire others to put more efforts into their academic pursuits.

Full text of the tweets read:

* I congratulate Miss Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere, Miss Amaechina Chibusonma, Master Oloruntola Mutiu Oluwaseyi, Miss Awofeso Aisha Omotola, Master Adesina Shalom Ololade, Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi, and many other young brilliant minds that we do not know yet, for their very exceptional and outstanding results in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) respectively.

According to reports, while Umeh Kamsiyochukwu got the highest score in UTME, Amaechina Chibusonma and Oloruntola Mutiu, Awofeso Aisha Omotola, Adesina Shalom Ololade, Omoyeni Joy Folakemi, and many others, all recorded outstanding results of Nine A1s in the 2023 WASSCE.

I celebrate them for the efforts and sacrifices they made to achieve such amazing results. I appreciate their schools and teachers who through their dedication to the growth of education, the students were able to learn and grow. Nigeria surely needs to make more investments in education, to enable other students to learn, grow and become better, academically and all round. These outstanding performances once again reinforce my conviction that no nation can make meaningful progress unless it invests heavily in the development of its human capital.

**Two young Nigerians have, once again, distinguished themselves on the global stage through their academic achievements.

Miss Mmesoma Okonkwo and Miss Olubukola Adeyemi, according to reports, have received the British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Awards following their stellar performance in the 2022 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level Examinations respectively.

I congratulate them, their school, and their teachers for putting Nigeria on the global map through their academic feats. I believe that through their achievements, many Nigerian students will be inspired to put more effort into their educational pursuits.

I wish them well in their future endeavours and urge them to keep the flag flying. In the New Nigeria, our brilliant minds around the world will form very critical parts of our developmental journey. I am particularly pleased that these young minds have not succumbed to the negative attraction of vices like substance abuse, cyber crimes and unproductive consumerism. Instead, they have applied their young minds to the pursuit of learning and knowledge.

These minds are among the foundations of our new Nigeria. It is POssible. -PO
