Nedu Mark, Yenagoa

Frontline Niger Delta activist and former governorship candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Bayelsa state, Famous Daunemigha, Monday, said the region is no longer a battle ground for selfish benefits.
Daunemigha also cautioned the leader of Niger Delta Volunteer Force, NDVF, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, over his recent comments, inciting youths against the new President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He warned youths in the Niger Delta region not to make themselves vulnerable to the antics of Asari-Dokubo by calling for the resumption of militant activities in the region.

The former CPC candidate in the 2011 general election noted that every known ex-militant in the region had embraced the new leadership and also expressed their willingness to work with Buhari.
Daunemigha, who was the former Vice-President of Ijaw Youths Council Worldwide, when Dokubo was the President of IYC, said his recent comment would amount to nothing as the Niger Delta region could no longer be a battle ground only for his selfish benefits.
Speaking on the deadline for amnesty programme with newsmen in Yenagoa, the former youths leader said that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was president for six years but could not review the terminal date of the amnesty programme.
He further said the IYC and Ijaw National Congress could not compel their son, ex President Jonathan to extend the terminal date of December 2015.
According to Daunemigha, “the agitation for the betterment of the Niger Delta region has gone beyond physical confrontation and its now more of an intellectual engagement.
Daunemigha, who was the CPC governorship candidate in the 2011 general election in Bayelsa State, said Asari-Dokubo should accept the realities on ground after Jonathan conceded defeat and congratulated President Buhari.
“I expect the likes of Asari to follow the example and accept the realities on ground instead of mourning more than the bereaved,” he said, and called on all well-meaning Ijaw elders and youths to fully support Buhari as he meant well for the region.
