Arsenal is, however, expected to announce the capture of the star attacker in days, as it is already a given tale that the deal for him has been completed, as per reports.
The Nigerian wonderkid, Nwakali announced on Social Networking site Facebook, Thursday, that he had agreed a move to the Emirates. The young attacker clocked 18 years of age last week, which made him eligible to sign a professional contract.
Arsenal had earlier signed Swiss International midfielder Granit Xhaka earlier this summer. Nwakali, 18, posted on Facebook a picture of himself holding an Arsenal jersey with his name on the back.
Kelechi included a picture of himself alongside Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, which was taken earlier in January.
The youngster changed his biodata on Facebook to “Footballer for Arsenal FC and Nigeria U20”.
And he continued by posting on the site: “New Life Begins @Arsenal.” Kelechi, who signed on from his country’s Diamond Football Academy, was a star for Nigeria’s victorious Under-17 team that conquered the World in Chile last year.
The youngster who has been reportedly asked to wear the No.25 shirt caught the eye of Arsenal and other top European clubs after winning the golden ball at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile last year.
The Jersey number 25 given to Nwakali was once worn by club legend and fellow Nigerian International Nwankwo Kanu.
It’s believed that the wonderkid requested for the Number in honour of his role model and the man that helped secure the deal to Arsenal.
