The Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, is dead.
Family sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Dr Adegbenro died at Federal Medical Centre, Owo, after a brief illness.
NAN gathered that the commissioner was admitted at Crown Hospital, Akure last week before he was moved to Federal Medical Centre, Owo for further treatment.
Though the cause of death of the Commissioner was not expressly stated, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State had, on June 30, announced that he, the governor, had tested positive for COVID-19 and had gone into isolation, in accordance with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.
