Last evacuation flight from US departs New Jersey for Abuja, Lagos Thursday, August 20, 2020

The 9th and last evacuation flight for Nigerians stranded in the United States of America, US, as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will depart the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey tomorrow, Thursday, August 20, 2020.

The Ethiopian Airlines Flight No. ET509 leaves at 21.15 HRS and arrives the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (ABV) on Friday, August 21, 2020 by 12.25 HRS, before proceeding to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos (LOS) where it will touch down at 14.50 HRS.

The flight, according to a statement by the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York, has been approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

All prospective evacuees are expected to purchase their one-way tickets through www.ethiopianairlines.com at the cost of USD 1,250.00 (Abuja) and USD 1,350.00 (Lagos)for Economy Class and USD 2,800.00 (Abuja) and USD2,900.00 (Lagos) for Business Class for adult/child fare including all taxes, with the usual percentage reduction for infants under two years.

The evacuees are to forward a copy of their tickets, with name, telephone numbers and contact address of their next of kin in Nigeria to [email protected] and [email protected].

All the prospective evacuees are also to present, compulsorily, documentary evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR Test Result, which must not be older than 14 days and preferably not less than five days on the date of departure.

They will equally be expected to undergo temperature checks five hours before departure, wear face masks, use hand sanitizers intermittently during the flight and adhere strictly to all instructions of relevant authorities on arrival in Nigeria.
