Re-elected member representing Billiri East State Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Mr. Rambi Ayala has called on authorities to demarcate common boundaries in some communities in Gombe South senatorial zone to forestall the reoccurring break down of law and order especially as the farming season sets in.
The member, who was baring his mind during a chat with Correspondents where he aired his views on the re-occurring clashes over farmlands in some communities in southern Gombe that has attracted great concern, said that the solution is for Government to demarcate these boundaries.
According to him, “if the crises comes up as a result of lack of demarcation of boundary, I expect Government to revisit this issue and carry everybody on board. Unless there is a superior reasoning, but my position is that if it is boundary that is causing the problem, then there should be boundary demarcation.”
He described the situation which occurs year in year out as a sad commentary saying, “the best I could do was from a legislative point of view where I raised motions and suggestions on the best way out of the situation”.
Speaking on his triumph at the Supreme Court where he reclaimed his mandate, Ayala said the judgment in his favour was a victory for democracy and the rule of law adding, “It was a sacrifice made to make our democracy strong and virile and to ensure that party democracy is enshrined and I’m glad to be part of this sacrifice”.
Mr. Rambi Ayala was declared winner of the PDP primary election for Billiri East State Constituency held sometime last October but only to be replaced by the looser, Rabi Daniel, when the names of candidates were submitted to INEC. He went to Federal High Court Gombe where Rabi was still declared the winner.
Not satisfied with the result, Mr. Ayala appealed the judgment at the Appeal Court in Jos where he won. Still not satisfied with the Court of Appeal judgment in Jos, Rabi Daniel went to the Supreme Court in Abuja where it upheld the judgment of the Jos Appeal Court.
