Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has reiterated the resolve of his administration to ensure even development of rural communities in the state.

Tambuwal said this on Saturday during the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eastern Zone local government councils election campaigns in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state.

The governor said that the state government was focusing on various developmental projects across the 23 local government areas of the state to ensure that the people of such areas enjoyed good life.

“The election we are going into is of great importance. This is an election through which we get leaders who are closer to the people at the grassroots.

“As such, people should come out en masse to elect those who will continue to enhance progress in our various localities,” he said.

On the security challenges in the state, Tambuwal said that his administration was working tirelessly to ensure peace, stability and security of lives and property.

“We are making frantic efforts to bring an end to insecurity with the active collaboration of the Federal Government so that we can strengthen the capacity of security agencies to tackle crimes,” he said.

On the March 27, local government election the governor said that he was not surprised that the All Progressives Congress (APC) resolved not to participate.

He said that residents of the state had since lost confidence in the APC.

Earlier, the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, said that no fewer than 12,000 members of various opposition parties had been received into the PDP.

Goronyo said that the PDP was the party to beat in the state.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the party’s eight chairmanship candidates from the zone which comprise Isa, Rabah, Goronyo, Illela, Gada, Sabon Birni, Wurno and Gwadabawa local government areas.
