Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2016 Olympic Qualifying match between the Under 23 Team (Dream Team 6) against their counterparts from Congo, Hon. Boma Iyaye has assured maximum security for fans attending the game in Port Harcourt.
Hon Iyaye who gave the assurance in Port Harcourt during a press briefing, Thursday, further assured that Rivers State Government in its usual traditional style is determined to give its best to ensure a memorable match with all the associated drama, passion and wonderful atmosphere obtainable anywhere in the world.
Hon Iyaye explained that adequate security and logistic have been put in place for a hitch-free match, just as he called on all football-loving fans to come out en masse to cheer the Dream Team 6 to victory.
Iyaye noted the importance of sport to the administration of Governor Wike, said the governor is determined to re-launch Rivers State on the map of sports development in Nigeria.
The match billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium on Sunday, July 19, will see the stadium gates opened for fans from 11am on match day.
The Chairman explained that there will be a free transportation at different points in the city to convey fans on Sunday.
While commenting on the contribution of Governor Wike for agreeing to host the match, he also commended the governor for the support given to the local organizing committee to ensure that there is adequate preparation.
Members of the local organizing committee comprise of a seasoned sports administrator, Chief Adokiye Amesimaka, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Eddy Mark, Christopher Green, Honour Sirawoo and Albert Chinwo.
