Mr. Suleman Mafara, has assumed duty as the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akwa Ibom.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Friday Ekerete, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo on Thursday.
Ekerete said Mafara, who took over from Mr. Abidemi Majekodunmi, was the State Commandant of NSCDC Kogi Command.
“Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has received a new state commandant. He is CC Suleman Ibrahim Mafara.
“He took over the reins of the command from Comdt Abidemi Majekodunmi who has been redeployed to NSCDC National headquarters, Abuja.
“The official handover of the command took place on Wednesday, July 6 at the state command headquarters, Uyo.
“The new commandant thanked his predecessor for his contributions and achievements while he held sway and promised to build on the structure on ground while delivering on the mandates of the corps for the benefit of Akwa Ibomites and Nigeria as a whole.
“While addressing officers and men of the command, Mafara emphasized that he places premium on productivity and performance, stressing that they are the yardsticks with which he relates with subordinates.
“A native of Talata Mafara in Zamfara state, Mafara is a Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Public Administration both from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto. He also holds a PhD in Naturopathic medicine.
“He is a pioneer staff of the Corps who has risen through the ranks and held a number of command and strategic positions.
“He has been a Divisional Officer and an Area Commander. He served as DC Operations in Kebbi and Taraba States. He was also DC Administration in Sokoto and Niger states amongst others,” Ekerete said.
