Nigerian Passport Intervention exercise holds in Chicago (August 26-28); Consul General in New York, Amb. Egopija, to hold meetings with nationals

The Nigerian Consulate in New York, United States of America (USA) has concluded arrangements to undertake a Passport Intervention Exercise in Chicago from Thursday, August 26 to Saturday, August 28, 2021.
The exercise, which is in collaboration with the leadership of the Nigerian Community in Chicago will take place at 4850 North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago Illinois, 60625.
According to a statement by the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York, announcing the program, the Consul General, Ambassador Peter Lot Egopija will use the opportunity of the event to meet with the leadership of the Nigerian Community in Chicago on Friday, August 27, 2021 and address the members of the Nigerian Community on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
The statement said further that intending passport applicants must meet all requirements for passport processing as indicated on the Consulate’s website www.nigeriahouse.com and pay the processing fee as prescribed by the organizers.
The Consulate General, “mindful of the issue of outstanding passports from previous intervention exercises between 2017 and 2019,” also made the following clarifications: “(a) The Nigerian Immigration Service is revalidating passport application fees and producing passports from previous intervention exercises; (b) Applicants with outstanding passports from previous exercises who cannot wait for the completion of the process of revalidation and production of their passports may wish to re-apply, make fresh payment of the application fee and have their biometrics recaptured during this exercise. They will, however, not be required to pay another processing fee; (c) Affected applicants can thereafter seek refund of the previous application fee from Innovate1 Services. ”
COVID-19 protocols, the statement concluded, will be strictly observed during the intervention exercise.
