Mrs. Ugwuanyi to sponsor less privileged children to Abuja fiesta; gets NTA honour

Wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, has affirmed her readiness to sponsor some less-privileged children in the state to the 2015 Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Mother Christmas Funfair, holding at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

She added that an arrangement is under way to sponsor children from different schools in the state drawn from both rural and urban areas to give them sense of belonging.

In a speech when she received in audience the management staff of Nigerian Television Authority Enugu State centre in her office, Mrs. Ugwuanyi thanked them for honouring her with the 2015 Mother Christmas Funfair.

Earlier in an address, the Coordinator of the event, Mr. Blackson Bayewumi commended Mrs. Ugwuanyi for her passion for children, especially the less privileged, noting that over the years, women and children have been neglected.

He added that whenever there is crisis or riot women and children are the vulnerable.

He added that it is because of this that some Nigerians in Diaspora in collaboration with the NTA decided to honour some women who had contributed so much to the development of the country.

He disclosed that Mrs. Ugwuanyi is the only woman in the South East zone that would be honoured the Mother Christmas Funfair on December 2015.

Mrs. Ugwuanyi, thereafter, received in audience the young Amazon leadership initiative, a non-governmental organization for the development of young women led by Mr. Chidi Nwafor whom Mrs. Ugwuanyi promised to assist in due course to carry out their assignment when the economy improves.

The leader of the group Mr. Nwafor informed Mrs. Ugwuanyi that the organization assists young women develop their potentials by aiding them choose their proper careers and measure in them.
