Serious questions are being asked concerning the whereabouts of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Adegoke Timothy Oludare, who has gone missing since November 5, 2021 when he last contacted his wife from the University town.
The Police and management of a Hotel in the University town, Hilton Hotel and Resorts, are being asked to account for the whereabouts of the missing company Director who came to Ife to write his MBA examination and has not been heard from since November 5, 2021.
According to accounts, Oludare, who is the Director of Finance at FJJ Company, had been frequenting Ife in connection with his MBA studies. He had been in the town between October 22 and 24 and October 29 and 31, before his trip to the town on November 5, 2021.
He had, according to the account, been lodging at the Hilton Hotel and Resorts, owned by Rahman Adedoyin who is also said to be the owner of Oduduwa University.
Oludare was said to have contacted his wife in Abuja to tell her of his arrival at Ile-Ife on November 5. The following morning, his wife called to exchange morning greetings, but his line kept ringing without being answered. This continued throughout the next day, Saturday, November6, 2021.
His wife at this point contacted relatives who immediately sent delegates to the examination centre (MORO) OAU to confirm whether he was in the examination hall.
The examination coordinators checked the attendance for Saturday and Sunday (6th and 7th November) and discovered that Adegoke Timothy Oludare did not come to write the examinations for which he travelled all the way to Ife.
At this point, the OAU Management and relatives proceeded to the Police station to report the matter and investigation began. Through the effort of the OAU Management, the chairman of hoteliers’ association was contacted to reach out to hotels to confirm whether Adegoke Oludare lodged in any of the hotels but no positive response was received.
On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, Oludare’s wife discovered the receipt of Hilton Hotel and Resorts where he lodged previously.
The investigation panel proceeded to Hilton to find out whether Adegoke Oludare lodged there again November 5, 2021. They were said to have met the proprietor of the hotel, Chief Rahman Adegoke Adedoyin, but they denied that Oludare lodged at their hotel.
On Thursday, November 11, 2021, investigation revealed that Oludare transferred the sum of N37,000 from his account to a lady named Adedeji Tobiloba Adesola and the details of the transfer showed that the transaction took place on Friday, November 5, 2021, the day Adegoke Oludare’s wife claimed that her husband told her he had lodged at a hotel in Ile Ife.
Upon tracking the phone number on the said account, it was discovered that the owner of the number was at that time of the transaction at the Hilton Hotel and Resorts owned by Rhaman Adedoyin. Police proceeded to the Hotel and Adedeji Tobiloba Adesola was fished out to be a staff of the said Hotel.
Adedeji Tobiloba Adesola was apprehended and she confessed to allocating room 35 of Hilton Hotel and Resorts to Adegoke Timothy Oludare the same Friday, November 5, 2021. She was arrested and taken to the Police headquarters, Oshogbo, the Osun State capital.
On November 12, 2021, her confession led to the arrest of six other suspects by the Police. One of the suspects who is a self-acclaimed alfa claimed to have left Ile-Ife for Ejigbo same Friday, November 5.
Before the alfa’s confession, the Police tracking had shown that Oludare’s phone moved from Ile-Ife to Ejigbo between November 5th and 6th, 2021.
On November 13, 2021, the proprietor of Hilton Hotel and Resorts was said to have mobilized three lawyers to Oshogbo in connection with the investigation process.
The Police are also said to appear to now be foot dragging with the investigation process.
Oludare’s wife and relatives is, as a result, crying out to relevant authorities and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene and help them to get to the bottom of the matter.
They fear that the investigation may become compromised and are asking that everything should be done by higher authorities to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of Adegoke Timothy Oludare.
