NAOWA showers hospitalized officers and men with gifts

Members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) in their efforts to support their gallant husbands in their quest to wipe out insurgency in the North-East, have extended their hands of fellowship to officers and soldiers by visiting and presenting gifts to those that sustained various degrees of injuries on the battle field who are receiving medical attention in different hospitals.

Presenting the gifts to the hospitalized personnel, the President NAOWA, Mrs Ummu Khalthum Buratai said they are in Maiduguri to identify and empathize with officers and soldiers who got injured on the battle field while trying to restore peace to their fatherland.

Mrs Buratai, who was represented by the wife of the Theater Commander, Mrs. Victoria Irabor said “the main objective of the NAOWA is to provide welfare for the Barrack community and the less privileged of neighboring communities.”

The Chief of Army Staff`s wife who disclosed this at 7 Division Medical Services and launching of Nursery and Day Care School, at the Military Hospital, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, said as wives of the troops at the front lines in the on-going war against insurgency, they will continue to keep the home front and pray for the success of their husbands. .

She solicited the support and cooperation of the Theater Commander, the GOC, Officers and soldiers of the 7 Division for speedy completion of the assignment, pointing out that education is the best legacy for every child.

In her welcome address, the President NAOWA, 7 Division Chapter, Mrs Apolonia Ezugwu said the gesture is meant to show love and empathy with the wounded soldiers.

Mrs Ezugwu said “as wives of officers and soldiers in the battle field, we want to express our solidarity and moral support for you to succeed in your enormous task of restoring peace to our dear country”.

She said the gift is a token, to show love and solidarity with all those who sustained injuries while trying to restore peace to the North-East, adding that they will continue to pray and support them until they stamp out insurgency.

In his remarks, the Theater Commander, Major General Lucky Irabor said “we were not surprised with the gesture, as the saying goes, behind every successful man there must be a woman.
Also speaking, the Acting GOC 7 Division, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu commended NAOWA for identifying with them, pointing out that the Division will support the Association to achieve its goal.

He said that they agree with the fact that the best form of defense is attack and that is why they are taking the war to the hide outs of the terrorists, adding that with the support from NAOWA who are keeping the home front, definitely very soon Boko Haram insurgency will be routed out of the country.
