The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt Rivers State has granted bail to Senator Bassey Albert, the 2023 Akwa Ibom State Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party – YPP.
A sitting Senator Representing Uyo Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Akpan was granted bail on health grounds pending the determination of the appeal.
Recall that Senator Akpan was sentenced to 42 years imprisonment on December 1, 2022 for corruption by Justice A.A Okeke of the Federal High Court Uyo.
Albert was dragged before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for receiving exotic cars worth N204m from a contractor of the Akwa Ibom State Government, Jide Omokare.
