New Jersey: Hoboken’s ‘Live Higher’ party to promote wellness, alcohol-free living

By Isiah Christie
For Hoboken, a city well known for being surrounded by nightlife and inhabited by a mostly youthful, party-centric crowd, it is remarkable to see an emerging mental diversity. The city’s “Live Higher” party, coming up on Sunday, June 29, at the iconic Pier 13, will aim to reverse the seeming presence by consensus of alcohol and other such substances at get-togethers in the city.
This is particularly important in the case of Hoboken’s Pier 13, which is well-known for its exceptional social vibes, built on the back of alcoholic beverage sales.
Pier 13, Hoboken’s seasonal open-air waterfront beer garden, which features food trucks, water sports and other entertainment, is a beautiful landmark, and this season is usually a great time for anybody in the area, especially extroverts, but clearly, it would not hurt to also cater to those that enjoy an alternative lifestyle, and “Live Higher” aims to cater to that segment with an alcohol-free wellness party.
The event is run by the “Live Higher” community group, whose members pride themselves on highlighting and prioritizing wellness, fitness, and communal activity focused on encouragement. “From 5K runs to ice baths, bodyweight workouts, and wellness activations, we bring people together to connect, recover, and thrive,” the group says of itself on fitness booking website, SweatPals.
Run by Saint – a North Jersey-based content creator that prides himself on the public education of training regimes, healthy recovery options, and community connection – the group is quickly gaining traction for its plethora of events, including a string of other “Live Higher” parties that have been held over the past several weeks.
The get-together, which will start at 9AM will be preceded by an 8:15AM group running or High-intensity interval training (HIIT) activity. The actual party runs from 9AM to 12PM, headlined by well-known Latin producer DJ NYSE.
It will include ice baths, chiropractic activities, massage therapy, general fitness activities, and food. “Higher energy. Higher purpose. Higher standard,” the group’s Instagram page says while describing the event. Admission tickets to this novelty has been released, and the first fifty purchases will come with a free class and gift – a perfect representation of Hoboken’s everlasting charm and generosity.
