Nigerian Army foils kidnap attempt in Kogi State; Neutralizes insurgents in Zamfara

In a recent series of operations, the Nigerian Army has demonstrated its proactive stance against criminal activities, successfully thwarting a kidnap attempt and neutralizing insurgents in separate incidents across Kogi and Zamfara states.

According to a statement released by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, troops intervened to halt a kidnap incident targeted at passengers aboard three commercial buses along the Akpata-Obajana Road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State. The vigilant response of the troops prevented the attempted abduction, with passengers rescued from potential harm. Some passengers sustained injuries during the incident and were swiftly transported to a medical facility for treatment.

In a related operation, troops engaged in counter-insurgency efforts in the North West region conducted a successful raid on a kidnappers’ hideout in the Kuyambana general area along the Magawa-Migetso Road in Zamfara State. The encounter resulted in the neutralization of two insurgents after a fierce gun battle. The troops seized a cache of weapons, including firearms and ammunition, along with communication devices and restraints used in the abduction of victims. The insurgents’ camp was subsequently dismantled.

The statement further highlighted a recent operation conducted by soldiers attached to the 6th Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State. During this operation, two terrorists were eliminated, and a significant quantity of weapons was recovered.
