Nigerian, Joseph Chukwueke, elected Mayor of Woodlynne in America

Nigerian-born Joseph Udumeze Chukwueke, has been elected Mayor of Woodlynne, a borough of Camden County of the State of New Jersey in the United States of America, US.

Chukwueke, from Ovim in Abia State of Nigeria will take over from the incumbent Mayor, Democrat Jeraldo Fuentes, whose term of office ends on December 31, 2019.

A Democrat, Chukwueke defeated his closest opponent, Clyde Cook, by a wide margin, having secured 225 votes to Cook’s 96 in the election that took place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Before his election as Mayor, Chukwueke was serving in the Woodlynne Borough Council as Chairperson for Emergency Management.

The Mayor is the Head of the Woodlynne Borough Council, the governing body of the municipality. The Mayor and the Borough Council establish laws, ordinances and policies for the municipality.
