Nigerian Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, scores first goal of the season as Nottingham Forest win big in EPL

Nottingham Forest secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on their trip to Molineux, keeping their top-four aspirations alive in the Premier League. The result comes as a timely boost for Forest, especially with several of their title rivals, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea, experiencing slip-ups.

Forest’s solid performance saw the team build on their excellent form this season, with Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi finally ending his goal drought to register his first goal of the campaign. Awoniyi, who had been searching for his first goal since the start of the season, capped off a strong team display with a late finish, ensuring his side walked away with all three points.

Forest made two changes to their lineup, with Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi returning to the starting XI, while Super Eagles defender Ola Aina continued in the backline. Aina, who has been in fine form this season, was solid defensively, helping to keep Wolves at bay throughout the match.

In contrast, Wolves made five changes to their lineup, with Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha absent due to a two-game suspension. Despite their changes, Wolves were unable to trouble Forest’s defense.

Forest got off to a strong start with two first-half goals. Morgan Gibbs-White opened the scoring with a clinical strike, before Chris Wood doubled their advantage, giving the visitors a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

Taiwo Awoniyi, who had been enduring a frustrating goal-scoring run, sealed the win for Forest with a well-taken goal late in the second half. His strike added the finishing touch to an outstanding team performance, as Forest continued their push for a spot in the Premier League’s top four.

With the win, Nottingham Forest moved up to third in the Premier League standings, tied on points with second-place Arsenal and four points ahead of Chelsea in fourth. The result highlights the team’s continued improvement under manager Nuno Espirito Santo and keeps them firmly in the race for European football next season.

The win over Wolves not only boosts Forest’s top-four hopes but also gives the team valuable momentum as they continue to impress this season. With Awoniyi’s goal finally arriving, the Nigerian striker will be hoping to build on this performance as Forest look to make a strong push towards European qualification.
