Enyimba International FC and Rangers International FC have been knocked out of the ongoing AITEO Cup competition (Federation Cup) by Niger Tornadoes FC and Heartland FC.
The two NPFL giants were tipped as favourites for the Cup but bowed out of the competition in the Round of 32 games decided Wednesday across various centers in Nigeria.
Enyimba International FC were knocked out 6-5 on Penalties by Niger Tornadoes following a 0-0 score line in regulation time.
The Abdul Maikaba tutored Rangers International FC played a 1-1 score line at regulation time with Heartland FC before bowing out 7-8 on penalties.
With their exits, both clubs will not be participating in the continent next season.
In the other results, two-time Aiteo Cup Champions, Akwa United FC were 3-0 winners over Remo Stars, with Samuel Amadi netting a hat trick to lead the Promise Keepers past Remo Stars.
Green Berets knocked out defending Champions Bayelsa United. Kano Pillars whitewashed Zamfara United 5-0 while Sunshine Stars humbled Rovers FC 5-1.
