Late Elder Statesman, Obi Senator Nosike Ikpo, who passed unto eternal glory at the age of 92 in the early hours of Saturday, January 23, 2021, will be interred on Sunday, March 21, 2021.
The passage of the celebrated Patriarch was announced in a statement by Eugene Ikpo on behalf of the Obi Senator Nosike Ikpo family of Umuokonogwu Quarters, Igbuzo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
He said that there will be Service of Songs for their departed Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Uncle on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Kefas Park, Igbuzo at 4:00 PM, while a Private Wake will take place at his Country Home in Umuokonogwu Quarters, Igbuzo.
On Saturday, March 20, 2021, there will be Traditional Rites at Umuokonogwu Quarters, Igbuzo. There will also be Reception and In-Laws Visitation from 12:00 Noon at Kefas Park; while on Sunday, March 21, 2021 the frontline political leader will be interred.
The notice, which appealed to all to strictly observe the COVID-19 protocols throughout the programs also said that Traditional Rites will continue after the interment.
A high powered Committee had been constituted following the demise of the leader of leaders, to give him a befitting burial.
The Committee, made up of 16 eminent personalities, had been announced by Eugene Ikpo on behalf of the family, and had Dr. Austin Izagbo, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka and Chief Felix Nwabueze as Co-Chairmen.
Hon. Barr. Princess Pat Ajudua and Dr. Austin Obidi were announced as the Anchors while Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Hon. Ossai Ossai, Hon. Victor Nwaokolo and Hon. Ndudi Elumelu are members of the Committee.
Other members of the Committee, which has Mr. Charles Ojakovo as Financial Secretary and Hon. Onyeanyana Okafor as Secretary, are Hon. Pascal Adigwe, Chief Peter Okocha, Hon. Mrs Joan Mrakpor, Hon. Ned Nwoko and Senator Patrick Osakwe.
Eugene Ikpo, in the statement, had acknowledged that his trail-blazing father, elder statesman and political icon had a political family, hence the constitution of a Burial Committee made up of illustrious personalities to give him, a Second Republic Senator, a well deserved, befitting burial.
