With the political atmosphere becoming increasingly charged in Gombe State, five first class traditional rulers in Gombe central zone of the State have appealed to politicians to eschew bitterness, violence and thuggery in their activities.

The traditional rulers, who rose from a meeting in Kumo, headquarters of Akko Local Government Area, issued a communiqué that called for peaceful politicking.

Reading the communiqué on behalf of the four others, the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Atiku also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for dispassionately handling security issues in the State.

According to them, the Governor has made their roles easier since peace is a prerequisite for development.

The traditional rulers also acknowledged that for the first time in the history of the State, the State Government under Inuwa Yahaya, had directed and implemented an upward review of their remuneration and welfare package.

They said, as traditional heads of their various communities who are closer to the grassroots, “We the Emirs alongside our District Heads of Gombe Central Senatorial District, have met, discussed and reviewed the current happenings in the state as they positively impact on the lives of our people under the leadership of our amiable Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya”.

The traditional rulers who restated and reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty to the administration’s efforts in uplifting their state to greater heights, vowed to continue to support the policies and programmes of the Government.

They said, “We finally resolved to individually and collectively cultivate more areas of genuine co-operation and relationship amongst us and to explore avenues towards maintaining peaceful co-existence among our people, irrespective of tribe, religion or sect in line with the spirit of the Governor’s determination to provide good governance and leadership by example in the State.

All the Emirs, of Akko, Pindiga, Yamatu and Deba, were present except that of Gona, who was said to be indisposed.
