Tributes galore as Ajayi Crowther University’s Registrar bows out

Like torrential rains, tributes flowed ceaselessly in honour of  the Registrar of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Mrs. Adenike T. Fatogun who retired recently from the service of the University after serving out her five-year tenure.
From clerics to academics to the University’s administrators, friends, family members and well wishers, the retiring Registrar was celebrated to high heavens as she was described in superlative adjectives, following her achievements and contributions to the development of the university.
At a Valedictory Service organized in her honour by the Chaplaincy of the University, where various speakers paid glowing tributes to the outgoing Registrar, Mrs. Fatogun who had worked in various places before coming to the ACU five years ago was described as an experienced university administrator, whose wealth of knowledge about registry significantly, positively, rubbed off on Ajayi Crowther University.
In his homily, Most Reverend (Prof.) George L. Lasebikan charged public servants to strive to leave behind enduring legacies before they retire, pointing out that the ACU community will not forget the contributions and achievements of Mrs. Fatogun.
According to the preacher, “Mrs. Fatogun is very experienced and knowledgeable about her job. This is a lesson for all public servants and civil servants. You must study to show yourselves approved. You must daily strive to be better than who you were yesterday, by constantly seeking knowledge and expertise. Knowledge is very important. It is what you know that will make you known. This is the first lesson we must learn in the life of Mrs. Fatogun,” he said.
In his own tribute, ACU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo described Mrs. Fatogun as an amiable, experienced and unassuming university administrator who handled her job with all energies in her body, stressing that the university community will miss her sorely.
Prof. Adebayo pleaded with the outgoing Registrar not to forget the university in prayers and necessary support and intervention, saying Mrs. Fatogun is also a stakeholder in the development of the university.
Responding, the honouree thanked the university community for the support she received during her tenure, stressing that each member of staff has a major role to play in taking ACU to greater heights.
Among the dignitaries at the occasion were the University’s Bursar, Pastor Samson Olojede and Dean, Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Muyiwa Popoola. Gifts were later presented to Mrs. Fatogun.
Meanwhile, the ACU Council has approved the appointment of Mrs. Olayinka O. Akinyode as Acting Registrar.
