Groups pay tribute to late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu

Pro-Igbo groups, Cultural Credibility Development Initiative (CCDI) and Izunwanne have paid tribute to the late President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who passed on to glory yesterday, July 25, 2024 at the age of 82.

The groups, in separate condolence messages, spoke of the landmark contributions of the departed socio-cultural, political and business leader and prayed for eternal rest for his soul.

In its message, by Ide Goddy Uwazurike (President) and Steve Nwabuko (Secretary), CCDI expressed rude shock at the news of the demise of the titan, and recalled his efforts to unite and move Igboland forward.

The group remembered, in particular, with nostalgia, Chief Iwuanyanwu’s “desire and efforts to draft a new constitution for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide” which was still work-in-progress before the colossus departed.

“We hope and pray that your Ohanaeze Ndigbo Executive team will complete and present that brand new “Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Ohanaeze constitution for Ndigbo,” CCDI said, while wishing the “perfect bridge builder” eternal rest.

Izunwanne, a group of senior journalists from the south east geo-political zone of the country hailed Chief Iwuanyanwu as a doyen of the newspaper industry in Nigeria, noting that most of their members passed through his Champion Newspapers, in the course of their careers, and equally expressed shock and surprise at the passage of the Imo State-born pathfinder.

In their message, by Sir Abuchi Anueyiagu, Coordinator, of the group, Izunwanne condoled with Chief Iwuanyanwu’s “family, the journalism world, the newspaper business community and indeed the country in general on the passage of this giant, philanthropist, patriot, illustrious Igbo son, astute politician, successful business and newspaper proprietor, well known figure in the construction sector, and a quintessential personality,” and prayed for his soul’s perfect repose.
