Victor Osimhen continued his blistering European form on Wednesday night, scoring twice to inspire Galatasaray to a 3–1 victory over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League at Rams Park.
The Nigerian striker needed just three minutes to make his mark, timing his run perfectly to latch onto Mario Lemina’s clever through ball before coolly finishing past goalkeeper Nikita Haikin. His early strike set the tone for a commanding performance by the Turkish champions.
Osimhen doubled his tally shortly before half-time, capitalising on a poor back pass from Fredrik André Bjørkan to round Haikin and slot into an empty net — his third goal of the campaign in Europe’s top competition.
The 26-year-old remained influential after the break, pressing relentlessly to win possession from Haitam Aleesami before setting up Yunus Akgün, who fired home at the second attempt to make it 3–0. Andreas Helmersen pulled one back late on for the visitors, but it proved nothing more than a consolation.
The result secured Galatasaray’s second straight win in the Champions League and extended their superb run to 21 victories in their last 23 matches across all competitions.
Osimhen’s latest brace continues his remarkable scoring streak on the continent — he has now found the net nine times in his last seven European appearances, with doubles against Tottenham Hotspur and Bodø/Glimt, and goals against AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kyiv, Ajax, and Liverpool.
This season, the Super Eagles star has scored five goals in seven appearances for Galatasaray — three in the Champions League and two in the Turkish Super Lig. Last season, he hit an incredible 37 goals to lead the Istanbul giants to a league and cup double, and his current form suggests he is on course for another historic campaign.
