In celebration of their golden anniversary, the 1970-1974 graduating set of Owo High School, Owo, Ondo State is preparing to launch an Endowment Fund aimed at supporting their alma mater’s continuous development. The event is set for Saturday, January 18, 2025, and will take place at the Owo Town Hall, an emblematic venue steeped in Nigeria’s political and educational history.
Founded on January 18, 1963, by the late Pa Michael Adekunle Ajasin, Owo High School holds is a leading institution, not only in Owo and Ondo State but across Nigeria. With a legacy of producing achievers across various fields, the school continues to impact generations, reflecting the vision of its founder.
Pa Ajasin, remembered for his pivotal role in the Free Education Programme that transformed lives across Nigeria’s South-West, served as the school’s principal from 1963 to 1975. His contributions to education, politics, and the pro-democracy movement remain deeply respected and celebrated.
The planned endowment fund is a tribute to Pa Ajasin’s enduring influence and is intended to further his educational legacy. Speaking on behalf of the alumni, Wale Ogunkoya expressed pride in the school’s heritage and noted the set’s commitment to giving back to an institution that shaped their lives and values.
“This endowment marks our 50th year since graduation—a milestone that reminds us of the values instilled by Pa Ajasin. Our aim is to ensure that Owo High School continues to grow and produce exceptional leaders for generations to come,” Ogunkoya shared.
The event promises to draw alumni, community leaders, and education advocates from across the country and beyond and attendees are invited to join the 1970-1974 set as they reflect on their shared memories and contribute to a vision that supports future students of Owo High School.
