Academics, civil and political rights activists gathered at late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola’s Ikeja, Lagos palatial home, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 to commemorate 26 Years of the June 12, 1993 Election that has now been declared a national holiday, Democracy Day, by the Federal Government.

Among those who featured at the event were Professor Pat Utomi, who was the Guest Speaker, Senator Shehu Sani, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Comrade Issa Aremu of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and Comrade Wale Okunniyi, an activist.

Also on hand for the ceremony were some of the late Chief Abiola’s wives, children, relatives, associates, students and other lovers of democracy.
