Makarfi who stated this, Saturday, when he received Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State who was on a courtesy call to his residence in Kaduna, noted that the PDP has a formidable team that can dislodge the APC in 2016.
Dickson doubles as the chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee.
According to Makarfi, the PDP would bounce back to greatness, insisting that it still remained the party to beat.
He commended the efforts of Dickson and his colleagues on the platform of the party in reconciling members, stressing the need for members to come together and move the party forward ahead of 2016.
Makarfi, who used the occasion to apologise to all aggrieved members of the party, noted that litigation might only give temporal “legal victory” that could not give permanent peace to the party as one family.
He called on party members to refrain from what could truncate the reconciliation process being embarked upon by the party.
“On behalf of all, as chairman of the Caretaker Committee, I wish to apologise to all, from whichever side they belong, who feel hurt by whatever means. Litigation may just give you a legal victory, but it may not give you permanent peace and harmony amongst your family.
“No doubt in the cause of events, we must have hurt each other. We need to reconcile. We need to acknowledge where we went wrong. It is good virtue to say sorry where you are wrong.
“It is good virtue to reconcile. Every day, whether Christian or Muslim, we pray. It is because we knowingly or unknowingly offend our Creator, asking for His forgiveness and reconciling with Him.
“So if that is what we do every day, why can’t we show that we are living examples. Why can’t we among we humans talk to each other, reconcile with each other and learn from past mistakes?
“In Kaduna we are only on sabbatical, we have a formidable team,” Makarfi said.
On his part, the Bayelsa State Governor assured the senator that all the governors under the party were behind his leadership.
Dickson, who referred to Makarfi as “our leader” congratulated the former governor on his emergence as the National Chairman of the party, adding that his emergence was as result of his track records.
