Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi was among the dignitaries who watched the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s 1-0 win over the Palancas Negras of Angola on Friday, in the quarter final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, characteristically, shunned the Very Important Personalities (VIP) stand of the Stadium and preferred to watch the thrilling encounter seated among Nigerian fans, who were excited at his presence.
The Super Eagles victory has positioned the team for the semi final encounter and the hope of many Nigerians is that they would go beyond that stage to the finals and ultimately win the coveted trophy.
It is not clear whether Mr. Obi will continue to be physically present to cheer the team at the remaining matches of the AFCON tournament.
