Philippe Coutinho on his fears about joining Liverpool

Philippe-Coutinho-2

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho says he feared he wouldn’t get a chance to make his mark at the club.

Having failed to establish himself as an Inter Milan player, the Brazilian playmaker admits he had reservations about his switch to Anfield and thought he might once again find himself wasting time as a bit-part player.

As it turned out, he instead established himself as an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’ team.

Speaking to Liverpool’s in-house media team, Coutinho said: “My objective has always been to play at a big club, to grow and evolve as a footballer and have a run of games. I didn’t have that at my previous clubs and I feared it would be the same at Liverpool.”

“But here it’s like a family, a club where the manager likes to use young players. Our team has many young players and I’ve been given a run of games, the manager has given me opportunities and this has built my confidence.”
