The Police Command in Anambra said it had arrested Ernest Okoye, a.k.a “IBB’’, the second suspect in the alleged killing of Chief Frank Igboka, President-General of Nimo community in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mustapha Dandaura, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the arrest of the suspect on Monday in Awka, and said that the suspect was arrested at a hideout.

The police had on April 29 arrested a suspect, Chigbo Aniegbu, over the incident.

“On Monday last week, I paraded one of the kingpins who actively participated in the dastardly act and declared three others wanted.

“I also assure Anambra people that the command under my watch will not relent in its efforts until it gets all the remaining perpetrators apprehended and bring them to justice.

“It would also be recalled that in the same vein, Gov. Willie Obiano increased the reward to N5 million on each of the three suspects declared wanted in order to fast-track police investigation.

“In view of the foregoing and following credible intelligence report, the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had on Friday, May 3, at about 7.30 p.m. arrested the second principal suspect, Okoye Ernest, 34.

“The suspect, aka “IBB’’ is from Obosi community in Anambra,” he said.

Dandaura said that the identity of the second suspect was initially concealed and later mentioned by the first suspect, following discreet investigation.

“The suspect was traced and arrested in his hideout at old INEC Road, Awka,” he said.

The commissioner said that upon interrogation, Okoye confessed of being among the gang members that shot and killed Igboka on April 16.

He said that the suspect was assisting the police with useful information that could lead to revealing the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest of other fleeing accomplices.

He attributed the success of the operation to the support of Obiano and good of the state for cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

Dandaura urged the people to sustain the cooperation with the police, assuring that the command would not rest until the fleeing members of the gang were arrested.
