Police nabs notorious kidnapper of 3 year old girl in Bayelsa # Parades 30 youths for cultism, armed robbery

In a bid to sanitize the Bayelsa state and free it from kidnapping and other acts of criminality, the state Police command has arrested an alleged notorious kidnapper, one Mr. Godspower Ayakpo for abducting a three year old girl in Port Harcourt.

The suspected kidnapper, abducted little Samantha Pepple at Agip Estate in Port Harcourt and took her to Southern Ijaw in Bayelsa state, his hideout, for ransom, before being apprehended by police authorities in the state.
The Command also arrested 30 youths of various ages for involvement in armed robbery, stealing of hand sets and involvement in acts of cultism in the state.

The break down of the 30 suspects shows that 28 are male while two are female adults.

Parading the suspects in Yenagoa, State Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba said the little girl, Samantha, was rescued at Oweikorogha community in Southern Ijaw Local government Area after over two weeks of abduction.

Asuquo said that Samantha has since been handed over to her father Maxwell Pepple and that she is doing well in health.

Similarly, Amba Asuquo said the command also arrested a couple, one Mr. Preye Idan, aged 35, and Mrs. Divine Preye, 18 years for robbing a boutique shop owner, one Juliet Uchenna in Biogbolo at a gun point.

Police said the husband and wife claimed they rented a locally made pistol from their partner in crime to rob the boutique owner in the state capital on 21 st Sept 2017.

He decried the spate of armed robbery and kidnapping in the city of Yenagoa, but insisted that the police would do every thing humanly possible to stem the acts of crime and criminalities in the state ahead of the Yuletide.

The commissioner, who also told Journalists that his gallant men raided criminal hideouts where over seventy underaged youths for involvement in smoking India Hemp and alcoholism.

He gave their ages as between 12 and 17 years, pointing out that they indulged in criminal activities at night but assured the public that the command would not slam any criminal charges on them because they are minors. He however advised parents to always take proper care of their children and wards so that they would not be used in cult related crimes.

The commissioner also said one Yoko Nathan from Ekeremor community in Bayelsa state was apprehended by police detectives in Yenagoa for exchanging money for arms.

The command said the suspect upon arrest confessed to the act and said the guns were meant for kidnapping, sea piracy and armed robbery.

Amba Asuquo thanked the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for assisting the police in arresting one Azikoro Akikpo aged 21 for possession of a locally made revolver pistol hidden in a commercial bus along the East/West road.

He also frowned at the frequent attacks on, and robbing of, youth corps members in the state, adding that Kingdom Moses and Teddy Obi robbed one Eyefia Lilian Ogaga and Olumole Oluluatayen of their laptops and other valuables.

The Commissioner said seven laptops, one blackberry phone, Nokia phones, 3 power banks and other devices were stolen from the corps members in their lounge.

He insisted that the suspects would be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly.
