President Buhari welcomes Kogi State Governor to State House; Goes to Egypt for Africa Business Forum
President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, hosted recently inaugurated Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello in the State House, Abuja.
Governor Bello, who has become the youngest Governor in the country, was elected on the platform of the President’s party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and came on board following the demise of Alhaji Abubakar Audu.
The controversy that trailed Bello’s emergence is believed to be responsible for the current crisis in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
It is expected that he would have used the opportunity of his visit to the State House to brief the President on the situation in the Confluence State and receive some Presidential counsel on how to move the state forward.
Also, the President will depart Abuja on Friday, February 19, for Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to participate in the Business for Africa, Egypt and the World Forum.
The forum, which opens in the Egyptian resort town on Saturday, February 20, 2016, according to a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), is being organized by the Egyptian government under the auspices of the African Union Commission.
The forum’s objective is to accelerate private sector engagement and investment within Africa and promote the development of African ties and partnerships.
President Buhari, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and the Presidents of Togo, Sudan, Kenya, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia are among confirmed speakers at the forum.
Other confirmed speakers include the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and the President/CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote.
The President will be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelama.
He will return to Abuja at the conclusion of the forum.
