The Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun, on Thursday matriculated 149 part-time students for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Enisan Akinlo, in his remarks during the second matriculation ceremony, said 61 students were admitted for 2021/2022 academic session, while 88 were admitted for the 2022/2023 academic session.
“Indeed, this is another defining moment in our continuous commitment to ground-breaking history as pacesetters in the Nigerian education landscape.
“It is a time that God has bequeathed to us to enlist change makers, who will play vital roles in fine-tuning the global space towards the actualisation of our God-given mandate of nurturing and unveiling our envisioned change agents for global transformation,” he said.
On the importance of the ceremony, the VC said the matriculation oath confers on fresh students, full membership of the university upon the fulfillment of all necessary admission requirements.
“It enjoins you to obey the rules and regulations, be of good behaviour and be obedient to the Vice-Chancellor as well as other officers of the university.
“You are also committing yourselves to be disciplined and good ambassadors of the university,” he said.
Akinlo noted that the university obtained approval from National Universities Commission (NUC) in December 2018 for the commencement of five Bachelor’s degree programmes in accounting, banking and finance, business administration, Christian religious studies and marketing.
He, however, said that the programme fully commenced in March 2019, with 40 students.
He added that four other programmes; Economics, History and International Studies, Political Science and Statistics, were approved by the NUC during the 2021/2022 session.
In her remarks, the acting Director of Directorate of Educational Services and Training, Dr Oluwatoyin Oluwaniyi, said the part-time programmes  were not designed as one of “those make-up programmes”.
According to her, the programmes are carefully crafted to unleash the potential in the students, with a goal of being a finishing-touching institution, where characters are moulded and pathways for greatness are revealed
She urged the matriculating students to be determined, focused and to succeed so that they could compete favourably with other students globally.
“To our matriculating students, I congratulate you for choosing the best private institution that is working with the goal of being an incubator of men and women of distinction, who are divinely destined to tackle infrastructure deficit in Nigeria and place it in a comity of productive nations,” she said
