Rohr Predicts Difficult Zambia Game, Declares Echiejile Fit

Nigeria’s head coach, Gernot Rohr has said a tough matchup await the Super Eagles on Saturday when they face the Chipolopolo at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The Super Eagles with 10 points must beat the Chipolopolo to avoid the usual “mathematical calculations” and secure the ticket to Russia 2018 world Cup while a win for Zambia will equally put them in the race for the ticket.

And Rohr who supervised Nigeria’s home and away draw against Cameroon in the last two qualifiers has warned the players and fans to expect a more difficult tie against the South-African nation.

“We are close to Russia now and everybody understands it’s not the moment to miss concentration and discipline. They players are aware.

“But it will be different now. It is not Cameroon now and the players know it.

“Victory over Cameroon was important for us to restore confidence and bring back those in China. They showed work.

“We know that the team is different to the one we played last year but we are ready. We have made 2 training sessions. We have 2 left.

“The situation we are in today is a good situation because we have 10pts and Zambia 7. We have to win and we must win. We want to win.”

Rohr also dispelled report making the round that Elderson Echiejile will miss the tie because of injuries.

“No injuries at the moment. Echiejile had a knock on his ankle but trained normally yesterday so he will be ready.”
